The North Carolina High Country is renowned among anglers and fly fishermen. Fishing is a pastime that requires a great deal of patience, skill and time.
Echota is home to not one, but two stocked fishing ponds. Catch-and-release is the order of the day here, where in addition to trout, bass and bluegill, you'll also see turtles, muskrats, Canadian geese, wood ducks and many other creatures native to the habitat.
Fishing licenses are not required when you're fishing on property. And fishing isn't required when you're at the ponds. Walk along the shore with your grandchildren, feed the ducks or teach the kids how to skip stones. Seasoned fisherman or not, you'll enjoy spending time here.
